Hezbolla shoots rockets at the ones I love
So.
I've gotten a few calls, and a few emails from a few of y'all. Concerned, which I appreciate.
Rockets have been hitting Haifa (my family lives about ten minutes from there) so I thought I'd post a few words for those who are wondering how my family is doing.
Well. My older sister took my niece and nephews to Jerusalem yesterday. Not out of fear, but because she was tired of dragging them down to the bomb shelter ten times a day (interrupting naps and meals and such).
My little brother is NOT in with the IDF in Lebanon. Not that he's safe, his unit has been on operations in and out of Gaza since the first kidnapping last week...but that's all I know.
My mom moved their computer into the house from the screened in porch.
My dad said some rockets hit a few blocks away while he was on his way home from the gym.
So...
I dunno.
It's anybody's guess how this mess is going to turn out.
But while it's going on I'd like to express my acute displeasure at a few things.
1. Christians who don't act like good Christians
2. Jews who don't act like good Jews
3. Muslims who don't act like good Muslims
Particularly the moderates and the cowards.
Why pick on the moderates? Because there are so many of them and they don't do jack shit.
Everyone's worried about their mortgage payments, and their cars, and their jobs, and their social standing, and their own damn kids that they've got only one option, and that's "suck up to the status quo".
Well guess what. When the balless moralizers decide that the reasonable thing to do is to murmur amongst themselves disapprovingly then they empower the assholes that DO have balls.
What part of "Blessed are the peacemakers" don't you understand?
Being a peacemaker takes balls.
Take the Quakers, for example. When everyone else was debating whether or not slavery was appropriate and/or just the Quakers were running stations on the Underground Railroad.
So where's the public outcry? I mean aside from a few comfortably set-up leftists with university degrees and comfortable jobs, and a handful of anarcho-socialist-libertarian twentysomethings?
Israel's attacks on Lebanon are the social equivalent of beating the crap out of an invalid because he can't control his kids.
Lebanon CANNOT control Hezbollah, and destroying their infrastructure will not help them overcome that problem.
And Israel cannot stop exhibiting the willful aggression of a paranoid blind man with a baseball bat until some prominent Muslims publicly declare that it is wrong (dare I say IMMORAL?) to throw rocks at a paranoid blind man with a baseball bat.
And if the Palestinians are afforded the opportunity to get jobs and raise their kids in relative security than Israelis might find that their morning commutes are less fraught with shrapnel.
And if the White House drew up their middle east policy based on the actual situation rather than their idea of what the situation ought to be they might find that the situation MIGHT ACTUALLY GET DEALT WITH.
And if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass a-hoppin'
Oh well...
Here's to the peacemakers...and everyone else. I love all of you.
Except the heat-vent tube worms...I hate them and their smarmy "I don't derive my sustanence from plant-transformed solar energy". I hope those wee little crabs pick your tubes CLEAN you sulphur sucking annelids.
